Having established a broad understanding of digital technology and social media in the Introduction* the aims of the Workshop are to:
- Provide greater detail on how these tools should be used in practice.
- Discuss the factors you should consider when developing your approach to their use.
- Illustrate how to integrate the various tools with your website.
Subjects covered in the workshop include:
- Practical guidance on the techniques involved in using a number of the key tools, including:
- Blogging & micro-blogging (e.g. Word Press, Twitter etc)
- Content aggregation (e.g. RSS, YouTube, SlideShare etc)
- Social networks (e.g. Linkedin, Facebook etc)
- Forum participation & commenting
- Search advertising (e.g. Google Ad Words, Ad Mob etc)
- Mobile (e.g. SMS, WAP etc)
- Email (e.g. List management, presentation tools and online services)
- What are the emerging conventions and good practice relating to the above?
- What factors should you take in to account when considering which digital tools and social media technologies to use?
- How to use your website as the fulcrum for the above activity?
* Attendance to the Introduction course is normally a prerequisite of participating in the Workshop.
