Why Social Media?

Why should you use social media to engage with your audience? Where does the return come from?

Successful application of Social Media will encourage your audience to engage positively with your brand. Your audience is already using Social Media in a variety of ways, and their view of brands is increasingly influenced by these experiences.

If you choose not to engage with your audience, you run the risk that your influence over the perception of your brand will diminish compared to those brands who do engage. An audience which uses Social Media naturally engages with the brands that use the same tools.

So, Social Media can be seen as an important set of tools for brand management.

So how do you persuade your boss to spend ££££s on fancy Social Media widgets and the time and resources necessary to change aspects of the way you all communicate internally and externally?

In this respect the new Social Media is no different to old fashioned brand management. Take a long term view and plan your activities so that you can measure the new business that is generated and accurately identify the activities responsible. Be prepared to refine what you do in response to the outcomes that you measure.
