More users turning to web during recession
Until recently, for several years the number of adults in Britain who use the internet every day had grown at a relatively modest rate, from 17.8m in February 2008 to 20.1m in February 2009. However, this then surged to 22.9m three months later in May 2009 as people went online more often, relying on the internet for ways to help them through the recession.
The latest data from Kantar Media’s Internet Monitor survey reveals that those areas of everyday life most affected by the recession have seen significant shifts in online activity in recent months.
